Following the whale migration in La Paz, Mexico
So my fabulous boyfriend, Winston, organized THE BEST birthday bucket list trip ever to La Paz, Mexico to see the grey whale migration! I have been to Cabo, Mexico so many times to shoot destination weddings since it’s an easy 2 hour jumper flight from Los Angeles to Cabo, but who knew that only a 2 hour drive away from Cabo is the sleepy town of La Paz, Mexico. Unlike overdeveloped Cabo, La Paz still boasts pristine beaches…sometimes stretches of isolated beaches and so much marine life that you feel like you have dipped into an episode of Planet Earth. Even the animals here luxuriate in the bountiful waters off the coast of La Paz and they have no real predators here, that they don’t even really fear humans. We found ourselves face to face with grey whales and swimming a long side the largest fish in the sea, the whale shark, but my favorite was playing tag with California Sea lions while snorkeling. To be able to interact in such an intimate space with these amazing creatures was one of the best experiences of my life. It’s no surprise that many Americans are choosing to buy vacation homes or boats and retiring down there since it still is a little slice of paradise amidst the hustle and bustle of Mexico. I just wanted to share some of the amazing natural beauty of this place, but hopefully still keep it as the hidden gem it is!
